Accompanying the story Arthur Writes a Story, we wrote our own stories that were assessed by an easy-to-use rubric for students to recognize what they are missing in their writing.
We worked on context clues by decoding different Whatchamacallit sentences. Students had to read the sentence and search for the meaning of the word whatchamacallit. After they decoded the meaning using context clues, they could reveal the pictures to check their answers.
